Family owned in Dallas, Georgia. Painting, flooring, remodels, and the rest of the house.
Ramsey is our last name. That’s the whole story behind it, and it’s also the reason we take the work as seriously as we do.
My dad spent thirty years in the fencing business. He grew up in Mableton, moved out to Dallas, and that’s where I’ve lived for most of my life. When I was coming up, I’d fill in on his jobs doing fence repair and staining. Not glamorous work, but it teaches you things. You learn what happens when somebody rushes the prep. You learn that a customer can tell the difference between a crew that cares and one that’s just trying to get to the next job. And you learn that your name goes home with the customer, whether you like it or not.
The fence work led to painting. Painting led to bigger jobs. Before long, customers were asking us to take on interiors, exteriors, floors, and full remodels, and we kept saying yes. Somewhere along the way it stopped being a side business and became Ramsey Contracting.
I named it after my family on purpose. I’ve got two boys, and there are more Ramseys who’ll be involved in this business as it grows. When you put your own name on something, you can’t hide behind it. That’s the point.
The honest answer is independence. I wanted to run jobs the way I thought they should be run, without somebody above me deciding that the second walkthrough wasn’t worth the time or that the subfloor could wait. When it’s your name and your company, you get to make those calls. You also have to live with them, which keeps you honest.
Most of what makes us different comes down to one thing: we inspect our own work. That sounds obvious. It isn’t. Plenty of crews run in, install, and leave without ever going back over what they did. Then the homeowner finds the gap in the trim or the soft spot in the floor six months later.
So every Ramsey job gets walked three times.
I walk the job with you so the estimate reflects what’s actually there, not a guess. You get a straight number and a project plan that says what we’re doing and in what order.
The crew leader and project manager check progress as we go. That’s where problems get caught, back when they’re still small.
Two final walks. The crew leader signs off on quality, then the project manager does the same. If either one isn’t satisfied, we’re not finished. Then you walk it with us, and we don’t leave until you’re happy.
Communication runs through all of it. You’ll know when we’re starting, where we are, and when we’ll wrap up. If something unexpected turns up, you hear about it right away, along with what we recommend and what it’ll cost. No surprises on the invoice, ever.
A family in Carrollton called us after water had gotten into their house and ruined the inside. Not one room. The whole interior had to be gutted down to the studs.
We rebuilt it. Every wall, every floor, every finish, top to bottom, until it was a home again. That job took everything we know about painting, flooring, tile, trim, and coordination, and it’s the one I point to when somebody asks what Ramsey Contracting can handle. If we can bring a house back from that, we can handle your kitchen.
Ramsey Contracting is a small, hands-on company, and that’s intentional. I’m Hunter Ramsey, and I’m on the jobs. I know what’s going on in every house we’re working in, and I want to keep it that way.
Grew up in the trade, started on his dad’s fencing crew, and built the company from fence repair and staining into full-service contracting.
Ezra is usually the first person you’ll talk to. He handles estimates and keeps you in the loop from the first call through the final walkthrough.
The long-term plan isn’t to become the biggest contractor in West Georgia. It’s to build something that lasts and that the family can be part of. Over the next several years we expect to grow to five or six people, most of them Ramseys, all of them trained the same way I was: prep matters, walkthroughs matter, and you do what you told the customer you’d do.
Before this, our painting work ran under the PRE Coatings name. Same people, same standards. Ramsey Contracting is the whole family business under one roof.
If a customer described us over the fence to the family next door, here’s what we’d hope to hear: professional, reliable, experienced, and transparent. They showed up when they said they would. They told us exactly what it would cost. They did good work, and they cleaned up after themselves.
That’s the whole standard. It’s not complicated, but it’s rare, and we’ve built the company around it.
