Fencing is where the Ramsey name started. Thirty years later, we still set every post like it's ours.

Wood, vinyl, chain link, and aluminum fence installation across Paulding, Cobb, Douglas, Carroll, Polk, and Haralson Counties.

Real Ramsey project
— Fencing

This is the family trade

Before Ramsey Contracting painted a wall or laid a floor, we built fences. My dad spent thirty years in the fencing business around Mableton and Dallas, and I grew up on his jobs, digging holes, setting posts, and staining pickets. Fence work is how I learned that a job done right at the start doesn’t come back to bite you, and a job done fast usually does.

So when we build a fence today, it’s personal. We know what a post looks like when it’s set too shallow, because we’ve replaced hundreds of them for other contractors’ customers. We don’t build those.

Fence types we install

Wood privacy fence.

The West Georgia standard. Six-foot pressure-treated pine or cedar pickets, board-on-board or shadowbox, with a cap and trim if you want it dressed up. We can stain and seal it too. See Fence & Deck Staining →

Wood picket and ranch fence.

Shorter decorative picket fences for front yards, and split rail or three-board ranch fencing for larger properties.

Vinyl fence.

Privacy, picket, or ranch rail in white, tan, or gray. Never needs paint or stain. Costs more up front and nothing after that.

Chain link.

The practical choice for dogs, backyards, and commercial properties. Galvanized or black vinyl-coated, with privacy slats if you want them.

Aluminum fence.

The look of wrought iron without the rust. Great around pools and front yards where you want a fence that doesn’t block the view.

Gates.

Walk gates and drive gates, hung square and built to stay square. A sagging gate is the number one complaint we hear about other fence companies’ work, and it comes down to how the post was set and how the gate was framed.

— How we do it

How we build a fence that lasts

1

Layout.

We walk the line with you, confirm the property line, and mark utilities before anyone digs. If there’s a grade change or a tree in the way, we plan around it now instead of improvising later.

2

Posts.

This is the whole fence. We dig deep, we set every post in concrete, and we let it cure before we hang a single panel. Corner, end, and gate posts get extra attention because they carry the load. Shallow posts, dry-set posts, and rushed concrete are why fences lean in three years.

3

Rails and pickets.

Rails fastened with the right screws or ring-shank nails, not staples. Pickets spaced evenly and run level or stepped to follow the grade cleanly.

4

Gates.

Framed with diagonal bracing, hung on heavy hardware, and set on posts that won’t move.

5

Cleanup.

Dirt from the holes spread or hauled, scraps gone, yard left clean.

3×
Before · During · After

Inspected three times

We walk every fence before, during, and after. The crew leader and the project manager check the post line and depth before panels go on, check plumb and level as we build, and walk the finished fence before you see it. Then you walk it with us. Most fence crews are on to the next job before the concrete sets. We stay until it’s right.

Repairs vs. replacement

We get a lot of calls about a couple of leaning posts or a broken gate. Here’s the honest answer: if a fence is more than ten or twelve years old and the posts are going, patching it is usually throwing money away. We’re set up for new fence installation and full replacements, not small repairs. If you’ve got a section or two that’s failing on an otherwise solid fence, we’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth fixing, and if it’s not something we take on, we’ll say so.

Straight pricing

Fence pricing depends on the type, the height, the length, the number of gates, and the terrain. We’ll measure it, walk it with you, and give you a written estimate that lists all of it. No per-foot teaser price that doubles once we’re on site. We’re rarely the cheapest fence bid and rarely the highest. We’re the one that’s still standing straight in ten years.

Staining and sealing

A new wood fence should be stained and sealed once the wood has dried out, usually a few weeks to a couple of months after install. It’s the difference between a fence that turns gray and splinters in five years and one that looks new in ten. We can schedule it as part of the job. See Fence & Deck Staining →
