Real Ramsey project
— Siding

Siding is the skin of your house

It’s the first thing people see from the street, and it’s the layer standing between Georgia weather and the framing of your home. When siding is cracked, warped, rotting, or peeling paint every other year, it’s not just ugly. It’s letting water in, and water is how a house gets expensive.

Ramsey Contracting replaces and installs siding across West Georgia. Since we also paint, roof, and install gutters, we can handle the whole exterior as one job, with one crew and one plan, instead of three contractors pointing at each other.

Siding options

We’ll bring samples and talk you through what fits your house and budget.

Fiber cement (like James Hardie).

The most popular siding we install, and the one we recommend most. It doesn’t rot, warp, or burn, it holds paint for years, and it looks like real wood. It’s heavier and takes more skill to install than vinyl, which is why a lot of crews avoid it.

Vinyl.

The budget-friendly choice. Low maintenance, never needs paint, and comes in lots of colors and profiles. Good vinyl, installed properly with room to expand, holds up fine. Cheap vinyl installed tight buckles in the summer.

Engineered wood (like LP SmartSide).

Real wood look with treated strands and resin for durability. Lighter than fiber cement, easy to paint, and a solid middle option.

Board and batten, shake, and accent siding.

Mixed profiles on gables, porches, and dormers to give the house some character.

Trim, soffit, and fascia.

New trim boards, soffit panels, and fascia to finish the look and protect the roofline.

— How we do it

What we do on every siding job

1

Tear-off.

Old siding comes off so we can see the sheathing. We don’t side over existing siding. It hides problems and traps moisture.

2

Sheathing inspection and repair.

Rotten or soft sheathing gets replaced. You’ll know the per-sheet cost before we start if we find any.

3

House wrap and flashing.

A proper weather-resistant barrier over the whole wall, with flashing at every window, door, and penetration. This is the layer that actually keeps water out. Siding sheds it; the wrap stops it.

4

Installation.

Correct nailing, correct gaps for expansion, proper clearance from the ground and roof, and clean joints with flashing behind them. Fiber cement gets cut with the right tools and sealed at the joints.

5

Caulk and paint.

Joints and trim caulked with exterior-grade sealant. Fiber cement and engineered wood painted with quality exterior paint, or ordered pre-finished. See Painting →

6

Cleanup.

Nails picked up, scraps hauled, landscaping protected the whole way.

3×
Before · During · After

Inspected three times

Every siding job gets walked before, during, and after. The crew leader and project manager check the sheathing before it’s wrapped, the wrap and flashing before siding goes on, and the finished job before you see it. A lot of siding crews run in, nail it up, and leave. The house looks fine for a year. Then water finds the spot they didn’t flash. We don’t leave those spots.

Siding plus the rest of the exterior

Most siding jobs happen at the same time as a roof, new gutters, exterior paint, or all three. Doing them together saves money and keeps the details right: the roof drip edge, the gutters, and the fascia all need to work together, and that’s easier when the same crew does all of them. Straight pricing

Your written estimate lists the siding product, trim, wrap, flashing, paint, and a sheathing allowance so you can compare bids on what’s actually being installed. If a cheaper bid doesn’t mention house wrap or flashing, that’s the difference. We’re rarely the cheapest and rarely the highest. We’re the one that tells you what you’re getting.
