New floors, done right from the subfloor up.

Hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, laminate, tile, and carpet. Tear-out, subfloor repair, and installation, all handled by one crew.

Real Ramsey project
— Flooring

Floors change everything

You can repaint a room and it looks fresher. You replace the floor and it looks like a different house. Flooring is one of the two things Ramsey Contracting does most, and there’s a reason customers keep calling us for it: we do the part under the floor as carefully as the part you walk on.

A lot of flooring outfits are install-only. They show up, lay product over whatever’s there, and leave. If the subfloor is soft, uneven, or damp, that gets buried under your brand-new floor, and you’ll find out about it in a year when the planks start separating or the tile cracks.

We don’t work that way. We tear out the old floor, look at what’s underneath, fix what needs fixing, and then install. That’s the whole job, and it’s the only way we know how to do it.

Flooring types we install

Hardwood.

Solid and engineered hardwood, nailed or glued down, in the species and finishes that hold up in Georgia’s humidity. Classic, warm, and adds real value to a home. See Hardwood →

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP).

Waterproof, tough, and looks like wood or stone. The most popular floor we install right now, and for good reason: kids, dogs, and kitchens don’t faze it. See Vinyl Plank →

Laminate.

A budget-friendly way to get the look of wood with a hard, scratch-resistant surface. Great for bedrooms, living rooms, and rentals. See Laminate →

Tile.

Porcelain and ceramic for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and entryways. Properly set on a prepared, level surface so it stays put. See Tile →

Carpet.

Soft, warm, and quieter underfoot. New pad and carpet for bedrooms, stairs, basements, and family rooms. See Carpet →

Epoxy.

For garages, shops, and basements that need a floor that shrugs off oil, tires, and dropped tools. See Epoxy Flooring →

Which floor is right for your house?

Honest answer: it depends on the room, the traffic, and the budget. Here’s the short version of what we tell customers.

If you have kids, pets, or a kitchen and bath in the mix, LVP is hard to beat. It handles water and abuse and looks great.

If you want the real thing and you’re staying in the house a long time, hardwood pays off. It can be refinished for decades.

If you want a wood look on a tighter budget in a dry room, laminate does the job.

If water is a concern, tile is still the champion in bathrooms and laundry rooms.

If comfort and quiet matter most, carpet in the bedrooms is still the right answer for a lot of families.

We’ll bring samples out so you can see them in your own light next to your own walls and cabinets. Choosing from a screen is a good way to be disappointed.

— How we do it

What every Ramsey flooring job includes

1

Tear-out and haul-away.

We remove the old flooring and dispose of it. You don’t need a dumpster or a truck.

2

Subfloor inspection and repair.

We check for soft spots, water damage, squeaks, and unevenness. Plywood gets replaced where it needs to be. Concrete gets tested for moisture before anything goes over it.

3

Leveling.

High and low spots get addressed so planks lock properly and tile lays flat. This step is skipped constantly by other crews, and it’s the reason floors fail.

4

Moisture and acclimation.

Hardwood and some laminate need time to adjust to your home’s humidity before install. We build that into the schedule instead of rushing it.

5

Installation.

Done by people who do this every day, with the right underlayment, the right expansion gaps, and the right transitions between rooms.

6

Trim and finish.

Baseboards, quarter round, thresholds, and stair nosing so the job looks finished, not just installed.

7

Cleanup.

We leave the room ready to move furniture back in.

3×
Before · During · After

Three walkthroughs, no exceptions

We walk every floor before the job, during the install, and after it’s done. The crew leader and the project manager each sign off. If a transition strip isn’t tight or a plank has a gap, we fix it before we call you in for the final walk. Most crews inspect nothing. We inspect everything.

Straight-shooting estimates

When we come out, we’ll measure, look at what’s under the existing floor, and give you a written estimate that lists the product, the prep, and the labor separately. No lowball number that turns into something else once the old floor is up. If there’s a chance the subfloor has issues, we’ll tell you up front what that would add so there are no surprises.

Flooring plus the rest of the project

New floors often go hand in hand with fresh paint, new baseboards, or a kitchen or bathroom update. Since we do all of that in-house, we can sequence the work so the floor goes in at the right stage and doesn’t get damaged by the trades that follow.
